The MYS logo repeated

More Than Just (Digital) Maps

Self-serving blog post ahead: fresh off those IMTS feels, we’re sharing nostalgia about the lead-up to current day MYS. Today's post is courtesy of our resident 'print' expert, Jane Sweatt.

We’re entering our 12th year as our own entity from our parent company, Gardner Business Media and it’s almost impossible to believe that the beginnings of our life were in a CD-ROM. Yup, Map Your Show germinated from an agenda planner created for our long-time partner, AMT to aid their attendees navigate the mammoth IMTS show. Our first “product” was a floor plan and agenda planner. A map per se. Hence the name.

Since then, well, we’ve come a long way baby as the old commercial used to say [Editor’s Note: I had no idea what this meant until I looked it up.] Still the mapping, but so much more now with conferencing modules, mobile apps and booth sales management just to name a few things we’ve charted our way through. Always at our backbone though, there’s still the maps.

Did you know we produce printed maps, map books and printed guides for many of our clients? Old school printed maps that no one can ever refold correctly. Spiral bound conference guides. And page-by-page, step-by-step map books chock-a-block full of all the information needed to navigate your impressive shows. Yes, print is NOT dead and, in many cases, serves as a fine companion to all the digital tools we offer.

If you’re interested in seeing what some of our printed materials look like, drop me a line. I’m happy to send you some samples to look at. And, yes, I’m sure you probably already guessed it, but I still go to the library too. Something about holding that book in hand...
